Giedrius Zilinskas, Manager of Domino’s Pizza in Rathmines, Ireland, has scooped the highly prestigious title of Domino’s International Store Manager of the Year, out of over 4,000 people across 63 countries. Giedrius was presented the coveted award at a special ceremony in Las Vegas for his determination, exceptional performance and for the high standards of food safety, quality and service that he achieves in his store on a daily basis.
Giedrius’s store in Rathmines achieved a 98% average on the Domino’s Pizza Group’s vigorous audits, which are done four times a year. Giedrius also took it upon himself to deliver free pizzas to the homeless during the Christmas season in 2008 for the second consecutive year.
Giedrius delivered a moving acceptance speech at the ceremony in Las Vegas, explaining how he had come to Ireland in 2005 from Lithuania and how daunting his first day at Domino’s was when he realised he had so much to learn.
Giedrius started as a Trainee Manager of the Dundrum store and worked his way up to Deputy Manager there. He was then promoted to Store Manager at the Walkinstown store which he launched in 2006. In 2007 Giedrius was promoted to Store Manager of the Rathmines store, where he works today.
General Manager, Fergus McDonnell, said: “I recall interviewing Giedrius in 2005; he came across as an ambitious and extremely driven young man. He has proven that hard work, integrity and commitment to excellence always pays off. I am sure that as great as this achievement is, receiving the award will be seen as a milestone in what will be a very successful career.”
When Giedrius accepted his award in Las Vegas, he proposed to his long term girlfriend Dovile Bumbulyte, who travelled to Ireland with him in 2005 and has supported his career over the years. The couple are both overjoyed with the award, the engagement and their plans for the future.
